This short video captures the spirit of the protest which was held in Lawton, Oklahoma. Daifukuji kupuna and friends folded 438 paper cranes which were mailed to Oklahoma. Wearing their robes and walking in 102-degree heat, Buddhist ministers from various sects, with great dignity and respect, chanted the sutras, honored those whose lives were lost, prayed for those who are suffering, especially the migrant children, and presented an opportunity for the community present to offer toba in memory of their loved ones. Mahalo nui loa.
Rev. Jiko’s grandfather, Kanesaburo Oshima, was remembered at the memorial service held at Fort Sill, Oklahoma.

Folks are gathering, Hawaiian music is playing, and the weather is beautiful. May this be a lovely evening full of aloha. We have so much for which to be grateful here in Hawaii.
Thank you so much to our hardworking volunteers for setting up for this evening's Bon dance. Let's hope for clear skies. It's going to be a fun night. Come over for dancing, taiko, food, and fellowship. We start at 6:30 p.m. and end at 10 p.m. Mahalo to our Kona community for always supporting this event.

Dewy Grass, a Kona Daifukuji Taiko original piece composed by Senior members Douglas and Noa, made its debut at the 2019 Big Island Taiko Festival at the UH Hilo Performing Arts Center on June 8-9, 2019.

A great tea-tasting experience!
The Daifukuji Fujinkai Women's Association recently visited Mauna Kea Tea, an organic tea farm owned and operated by Taka and Kimberly Ino, in Honokaa. A wonderful place to visit, especially if you like tea!
The rice cookers came at 3 a.m. followed by the Taiko students at 5 a.m. Everyone's working hard and happily.
Daifukuji's mochitsuki is in full swing. We wish everyone a very happy new year.

Art show and sale at Daifukuji Soto Mission. Today from Noon to 1:00p.m. inside the temple. The artist, Spring Liao, will match the donation equal to the price of each work sold. All proceeds will benefit the temple. Our warmest Mahalo to Spring.
